If we pick out such a label, the DGNB, German Sustainable Building Council, is today Europe's largest network for sustainable construction with 1200 member organizations. Launched in 2007, you can see how quickly such labels are now becoming relevant in the market.

The background at the DGNB is that in order to make sustainable construction practical, measurable and therefore comparable, the certificate was finally developed. It was first used on the market in 2009 and the system has been continuously developed ever since. Here, too, the path just mentioned, process it did not come onto the market as a label, statically retained as it is, but is constantly being refined and adapted, and in the end we all have to learn and contribute to it together.

It is now internationally recognized, far beyond Germany, and is seen as a global benchmark for sustainability in more and more areas. The certification system as such is divided into different variants for buildings, for districts and also for interiors. It is a planning and optimization tool that is intended to help everyone involved in construction to implement holistic sustainability quality.

In terms of content, the system is ultimately based on three main paradigms, which also stand out from other certification systems available on the market. This is the life cycle analysis, which is very, very elementary, especially when it comes to building materials. The holistic approach, which includes many other aspects, including public accessibility, connection to nearby connection systems, etc. As well as performance orientation.

In order not to dive too deep into this, I would like to jump over the certificates more or less, but recommend that you take a closer look at the different systems. You will find a whole range of now certified excellent buildings, from educational buildings, commercial buildings to single-family homes, in which you can read or pursue different ideas, different approaches.

There are different classes in this system. In my opinion, this is also an interesting way of judging for yourself, when you say from this course today you are taking your personal top ten of healthy materials and perhaps dividing them into bronze, silver, gold to platinum in accordance with the DGNB seals. Accordingly how healthy are the most diverse materials, the most diverse building materials.
