What convinced you to join the hej.build Architecture Advisory Board?
I love how professionally hej.build brings together the different professional groups within the architecture and construction industry and encourages exchange between them. I find that enormously important and exciting. That’s why I’m glad to support it with my expertise.
What is most on your mind at the moment in architecture, interior architecture or building products?
What’s on my mind is the low regard for architecture and design in Germany. In many other countries, the art of building and design are deeply rooted and enrich life in many ways. I would like to see a stronger awareness emerge here, too, of the power and influence our surroundings have on us as people, and for many more inspiring projects to be initiated and realised as a result.
What does good architecture/interior architecture mean to you?
Good architecture and interior architecture create a distinctive atmosphere that, whether consciously or unconsciously, anchors itself positively in the memory of the people who use them.
Is there a current highlight or an all-time favourite project?
The last architectural highlight that really impressed me deeply was the Opera Park with its underground car park in Copenhagen by Cobe Architects. Walking through the car park with a view of the greenhouse-like stairway, I had tears in my eyes. Incredible, an underground car park with an atmosphere like that!
What can you bring to the Architecture Advisory Board?
As an architect and interior architect with many years of experience in large, renowned practices as well as smaller ones, I have gained deep insights over the years into a wide range of project areas, structures and many different types of clients. This broad experience forms the basis of my work today and allows me to bring different perspectives in architecture together. Since 2021, I have run my own architecture practice in Cologne, focusing on combining architecture and interior architecture in work on existing buildings.
I’m glad to bring this varied expertise to the Architecture Advisory Board.
