What convinced you to become part of the hej.build architectural advisory board?
I really value the internal dialogue in the industry with colleagues and manufacturers. At sbp, we are also in daily dialogue with manufacturers and suppliers, so the right communication and a suitable and targeted approach are very important to us. Dialogue at eye level is a matter of course for us - not only with our clients, but at the entire project level.
What are you most interested in at the moment in terms of architecture, interior design or building products?
When asked this question, it is easy to put sustainability at the top of the list. However, this should now be used as a self-evident tool in planning, but should not be the main content of a project or be misused as a smokescreen.
What is good architecture/interior design for you – in a few words?
Good planning always tells a story that surprises, inspires and emotionalises. Good, customised planning doesn't have to please everyone, but it usually reflects the needs of individual users in an ideal way. Therefore, quality is not always characterised by the ‘first impression’, but is sometimes only revealed by the story behind it.
Is there a current highlight or all-time favourite project that you would like to tell us about?
There are now too many good examples worldwide that could pass as highlights. Therefore, selecting one specific example would not do justice to the positive diversity.
What will the interior design of the future look like?
Due to rapid digitalisation and the development of new planning tools such as AI, it is becoming increasingly important to curate a project professionally and ensure quality. Offline remains an essential factor alongside online in order to create suitable environments for the right functions centred around people. In the future, it will always be about emotionalising and positively influencing people in spaces.
